Cleansing Crystals with Incense - Smudging

Sandalwood Incense Sticks

Incense sticks or smudge sticks can be used to cleanse crystals.

Any incense stick fragrance that has cleansing properties can be used.

A smudge stick is usually a bundle of sage, lavender, rosemary, other herbs can be used as well.

The sage or other herbs are put in a bundle & tied with string.

If using other herbs, please make sure they’re safe to burn.

Light the incense or smudge stick, when the tip of the stick starts glowing gently blow the flame out.

Hold the smudge stick or put the incense stick in an incense holder & pass the crystals through the smoke a few times to cleanse them.

Use an abalone shell, a fireproof dish or smudge bowl to put your smudge sticks out in when you’ve finished cleansing the crystals.

Put a small amount of dirt or sand in the bottom of the bowl & put the lit end of the smudge stick in the dirt or sand when you’ve finished using it to put it out.

If you choose to use herbs other than lavender, rosemary or sage, it’s important to make sure they’re safe to burn, some herbs can give off toxic smoke when they’re burned.

It’s a good idea to research the herbs you want to use before using them to make sure they’re safe.

Make sure you open the doors & windows before using incense or smudge sticks, so you don’t set off the fire alarm, never leave unattended & keep them away from anything flammable.
